On the presentation on the Nintendo Switch, they showed off quite a few things and answered quite a few questions we had, but one thing that we only got a quick glace was the UI of the system, and it really didn’t tell us much.

Then during the Treehouse live presentation the day after, during the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild demo, we got to see a live version of the Operating System that gave us a quick glace at what to expect, but in the end they quickly moved onto the game and left us to speculate.

Under these conditions, the only expected future information about the UI of the Nintendo Switch would come out when the Nintendo Switch comes out, but unexpectedly we got quite a treat. From the developers of Cave Story, Nicalis, tweeted out a picture of the UI, but was quickly deleted, of course not before the someone, “tsarkees” from twitter got a mirrored and saved for the internet to look at, and oh boy is it something to look at.

This tells us quite a few things, for one, that the UI can be customized in some degree and in fact might even have a night mode if you want to base this off of possible different color schemes. This also seems to point to the fact that you can have multiple accounts as well as customization account photos. Cave Story as well as 1001 Spikes is shown, which basically confirms the titles for the Switch, but as you can tell, there seems to be another title shown that you can’t really see since it is cut off, but of course, the internet had an answer for it.

One of the leading theories as to why this post was taken down was because on the far right it shows an unconfirmed title that probably isn’t done considering the transparent background of the art.

As you can see from this image, the game seems to be the 2011 indie game Hydra Castle Labyrinth, which is still unconfirmed. Keep in mind, all the games shown except for The Binding of Issac has not been confirmed by the developer, but at this point it’s hard to not look at this without certainty.

We will keep you updated on this if more news comes out about the UI or games. If you want to see a full list of games check HERE.

We can now add Monster Boy to our list of game confirmed to be coming to the Nintendo Switch. The developers, FDG Entertainment just made the announcement official on the Monster Boy website.

Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is a platforming adventure game which has been in the works for quite some time. You can check out some older released gameplay below:

In regards to the launch date and price for the Nintendo Switch version, we are still left in the dark. Hopefully we will find out more details soon though. Here’s what FDG Entertainment said about the announcement on their blog.

While we don’t have a launch date yet, we are happy to announce that we ship the game to three platforms on Day 1 which includes Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. We love to play Monster Boy everywhere so a Switch version was a must for us. Will you join us on Day 1 ?

FDG Entertainment did announce they are in the final phases of production, so hopefully the release date will come soon. I will surely be joining them on day 1! I am a huge fan of the art and gameplay of this title. I think Monster Boy will make a great fit on the Nintendo Switch catalog of games. What are your thoughts? Zelda: Breath of the Wild renders at 900p on the Switch

If you have not heard yet, Zelda: Breath of the Wild is set to render at 900p rather than 1080p. However, you don’t need to worry, this is a very minor variance and Zelda still shines with the gorgeous art style.

Earlier today Nintendo sent IGN the specs for the difference between Zelda being played on the Wii U and the Switch. Take a look at the key differences below:

  • Both are set to launch on March 3rd, 2017.
  • Both have a framerate of 30FPS.
  • Both versions offer the same exact content.
  • In TV mode, the Switch will render Zelda: Breath of the Wild at 900p (down from the rumored 1080p), and the Wii U will render the game at 720p.
  • The Nintendo Switch version has higher-quality sounds meaning the game world will sound more realistic.
  • The Wii U physical game will require 3gb of available memory on the system.
  • Button layouts will be different for both system (Duh).
  • A special Edition and Master Edition of the Wii U version are NOT available. Another great reason to get the Nintendo Switch version.

Why did Nintendo choose to release Zelda: Breath of the Wild with a 900p resolution? As of right now, no one really knows. Perhaps this allows the title to run smoother on the Switch. It really does not matter that much, and all of the gameplay we are seeing looks stunning. Unless you are going to be playing on a massive movie theatre style HD screen, you’re really not going to notice the drop in resolution.

Besides, art style trumps graphics any day. For example, ICO was, released on September 24, 2001, and the game still looks amazing. ICO still looks amazing because it has a very intriguing art style. Games like these hold up because they do not have to rely on graphics, they instead rely on story, music, gameplay, and atmosphere to create a world that keeps pulling you back in.

What are your thoughts on Zelda: Breath of the Wild being released with a 900p resolution on the Nintendo Switch? Overall, there is not much to be disappointed in, and the Switch is showing first hand how much more powerful it is than the WiiU.

Snipperclips is headed to the Nintendo Switch

Snipperclips is an odd game headed to the Nintendo Switch. When I first laid eyes on it during the Tree-House presentation I thought it was going to be another “cute” game aimed at parents looking for something to keep their kids quiet. While it does fit that description, I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by the intricacies of the game.

Players take control of popsicle looking characters and have to work together to match the shapes that appear in the game world. The character can be rotated a full 350 degrees, jump, squat, and run. The Character can even alter their forms to be thinner or shorter by cutting off parts of themselves. In one part of the presentation a moon shape appeared in the game world and the popsicle character stood halfway in it and altered their form to match the moon shape, then proceeded to combine with the second player to fit into another puzzle shape, completing that level.

While the game mechanics look very polished it wasn’t the puzzle system that intrigued me but the way the characters acted. Every time they didn’t stand in a shape correctly, missed a jump, or ran into the other player they would make these hilarious facial gestures. One would think that after trying to finish a level the player would get fed up and want to leave, but because of the way the characters react to every situation, you can’t help but find their borderline bipolar personalities adorable.

The world itself is also very “cute”. Overall it reminded me of little big planet, but in much smaller way. While Little Big Planet can have huge levels, and insane physics Snipperclips focuses on smaller level design and more on character interaction. After watching the 12 minute Tree-House presentation video I couldn’t help but be excited for the future of Switch gaming. If developers show their games the dedication and care Snipperclips was afforded, This is going to be a great year for the Switch.

According to DualShocker, Snipperclips will release on launch day, March 3, 2017, with a price point of $19.99 which is very fair. Nintendo still has the release set for March 2017 without a confirmed date, but this article will be updated accordingly. Will you be purchasing this game day one? When looking at Nintendo’s past releases over the last decade one thing can always be said about the release of the console, they always came with a great game to play packed in that showed off the consoles main features. For the Wii it was Wii Sports, which demonstrated the features of motion controls in the living room. Packed into the Wii U deluxe bundle came Nintendo Land, an assortment of mini games that showed off what the Nintendo Gamepad could do. One of the key things needed for a game system is a way for people to try and understand the meaning behind it, and for the Nintendo Switch, it’s 1-2-Switch.

Announced unexpectedly during the presentation on January 12th, it appears to show case a multitude of mini games that revolve around the Joy Con controllers and using its many different features. The game was shown as a great party game that can be used without the screen, and where all the interaction comes from interacting with the player you are playing with. The shown mini games shown involved a quick draw game, a game involving you to count the marbles in a box, and, well, to put it in simple terms, a game where you awkwardly look at another person while you milk a cow. I think this teaser trailer explains the game in better terms:

Unlike all the previous releases of mini games showing off the features, this one does not come packed in, which is very weird considering the almost barren launch line up for the Switch. The game look interesting, but it may end up possibly being a game you only play occasionally and only for a short bit of time. One way I can see this possibly becoming something to come back to in the future would be updates to the game that would add content, but for now, we should be able to get quite a bit of play time out of the released content with friends and family.

The game is set to be released on launch on March 3rd at a price of $49.99 in America. We will keep you updated on any more information that comes out for this game, as well as a review once the game comes out. If you would like to check out a full list of the Nintendo Switch launch titles, they can be found HERE.

Tequilla Works has just revealed brand new Rime gameplay which is set to release on the Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

We originally covered the Rime Nintendo Switch announcement HERE if you would like to read more into this title. Rime is an action adventure title with a “cartoony” vibe to it. Tequilla Works described Rime best with the following:

“A single-player puzzle adventure about discovery, experienced through the eyes of a young boy who awakens on a mysterious island after shipwrecking off its coast. Players must navigate the island’s secrets by making use of light, sound, perspective and even time. Inspired by the rugged, sunbaked terrain of the Mediterranean coast, Rime paints its breathtaking world with a fusion of vibrant colors and moving musical undertones to set the stage for the deeply personal journey that awaits within.”

It is nice to see some current footage of the title which has been hiding in the dark for so long. Rime is currently set for a May 2017 release which puts it just behind the expected Nintendo Switch launch. What are your thoughts on the gameplay shown so far? I think it will make a great fit on the Nintendo Switch.
