Here we are 10 days before the Nintendo Switch presentation and we are getting a rumor that Zelda Breath of the Wild will indeed be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch.
This report comes from Laura Kate Dale who originally reported Zelda Breath of the Wild would not make the Nintendo Switch launch due to delays in localization. Here is what she stated on Twitter:
Contrary to my past report on BOTW release date it is 100% coming at Switch launch in North America in March. Have seen finalised materials.
— Laura Kate Dale (@LaurakBuzz) January 2, 2017
No clue why EU sources say June, but in NA at least BOTW will hit Switch day one. No clue on Wii U version.
— Laura Kate Dale (@LaurakBuzz) January 2, 2017
Laura Kate seems to be pretty sure stating Zelda is “100%” going to be available at launch in the U.S. Honestly, I always believed Zelda would make it as a launch title so I can’t necessarily argue with this report. Yes, this is only a rumor at this point but we can put an end to this rumor on January 12th. What are your thoughts on this rumor? Do you think Zelda will make it as a launch title or be delayed?
As we wait for the Nintendo Switch presentation on January 12, 2017 we really do not have much to talk about except for rumors. Today we have a whole handful of rumors including the rumor that Nintendo will be no friend codes on the Nintendo Switch.
Youtube user OBE1plays was streaming when the infamous source of Nintendo Switch leaks Laura Kate Dale showed up. OBE1plays and Laura did a Skype call which was broadcasted to Youtube. The 30 minute stream consisted of both of them discussing and answering questions about the Nintendo Switch. Here is a brief round up of all the most important topics they discussed.
- There will be NO friend codes. DeNa will be assisting with the network Nintendo has set up.
- There is a button to record gameplay on the left Joy-con.
- Laura stated Red Dead Redemption will most likely not come to the Nintendo Switch due to Nintendo’s relationship with Rockstar.
- Laura also stated Overwatch may make it to the Switch but the port would have to be completely remade to work on the Switch.
- Laura and OBE1 were asked about voice chat but they jumped around the question stating they would be covering that news shortly.
- The Switch will have Bluetooth capabilities.
- Joy-cons will be available for purchase separately and the docks will be as well.
- The Pro-controller will not be available in a bundle with the Nintendo Switch.
- The battery power will last around 3 hours with everything at maximum.
- The Switch uses a USB charging port.
- Only 3 GameCube Virtual Console games will be available at launch.
- Only the gray colored Nintendo Switch will be available at launch.
- The right Joy-con has an IR pointer similar to the Wii remote.
As always these are ALL just rumors. If you wish to watch the full Youtube video, you can check it out below:
After several sources have claimed to reveal Nintendo Switch clock speeds, many people are finding themselves disappointed. I am going to take one step further and explain to everyone what this clock speed means for the Nintendo Switch.
Today, EuroGamer published an article which essentially confirmed the GPU and CPU clock speeds for the Nintendo Switch. To break this down for everyone I would like to first explain the purpose of clock speeds. The GPU is the graphics processing unit, and the CPU is the central processing unit. To make this simple the GPU is used for graphics/visuals and the CPU is used for power.
From what these leaks are saying, there is a power difference when the Nintendo Switch is placed inside the dock. This is most likely in order to improve the battery life of the system when in portable mode. Here’s the leaked GPU and CPU speeds:
Undocked: CPU – 1020MHz. GPU – 307.2MHz. Memory Controller Speeds – 1331/1600MHz.
Docked: CPU – 1020MHz. GPU – Up to 768MHz. Memory Controller Speeds – 1331/1600MHz.
This shows that the Nintendo Switch can run with over 2x the amount of GPU if the system is docked. The information above was provided the developers of the Nintendo Switch along with the following message:
The information in this table is the final specification for the combinations of performance configurations and performance modes that applications will be able to use at launch.
The following specs were also revealed to developers:
- CPU: Four ARM Cortex A57 cores, max 2GHz
- GPU: 256 CUDA cores, maximum 1GHz
- Architecture: Nvidia second generation Maxwell
- Texture: 16 pixels/cycle
- Fill: 14.4 pixels/cycle
- Memory: 4GB
- Memory Bandwidth: 25.6GB/s
- VRAM: shared
- System memory: 32GB, max transfer rate: 400MB/s
- USB: USB 2.0/3.0
- Video output: 1080p60/4K30
- Display: 6.2-inch IPS LCD, 1280×720 pixels, 10-point multi-touch support
Given these stats, the Nintendo Switch is nearly double the power of the PS Vita to put things in perspective. The Nintendo Switch is not as powerful as the PS4 or the Xbox One though. While this may upset some people, I never expected the Nintendo Switch to be more powerful than the PS4 or Xbox One. We all know that Nintendo does not sell systems based on power, they sell based on their great exclusive titles. The fact that this will be the best handheld device on the market leaves me feeling very satisfied. What are your thoughts on these Nintendo Switch clock speeds?
Some more interesting rumors arise after Nintendo Switch patents are revealed. Patents tend to be a pretty accurate depiction of a system, so this is one of the few rumors worth reading through.
These Nintendo Switch Patents were revealed on NEOGaf if you wish to view all the images. I will be breaking down the most important patents I gathered from the thread.
To start off, once again these patents are pointing towards the Nintendo Switch having touch screen capabilities. These patents also show functionality for gyroscope, and rumble features for the Joy Cons. Most of the other features seen on the actual device seem to be information we have already received.
One of the most interesting bits I found was several different “extra” Joy Con patents. There are several of these Joy Cons listed which have a d-pad rather that an analog stick. This may not be confirmation, but it is safe to say there is a possibility of the Switch having the ability to switch between Joy Cons with different button lay outs/designs. This would also fall in line with the rumors we received in the past stating Nintendo would sell different Joy Con pieces you could interchange with the Nintendo Switch.
I have no idea how much these Joy Cons may cost, but I definitely hope we will have the ability to buy Joy Cons with different button layouts. This brings me to the patent I located which had 4 separate Joy Cons playing on one TV. This is also an indicator that we will have the ability to buy extra Joy Cons without buying a whole new Nintendo Switch.
Virtual reality? Looks like the Nintendo Switch may work hand in hand with virtual reality. One of the patents shows the tablet portion of the Nintendo Switch sliding into a virtual reality headset. I have no idea whether or not Nintendo will roll with it, but it is kind of interesting. I also wonder whether or not it will be bundled with the Nintendo Switch or whether we will have to buy the headset separately.
What are your thoughts on these patents? Would you enjoy using virtual reality capabilities on the Nintendo Switch?
Rime, once a PlayStation exclusive title, is now set to release on multiple platforms including the Nintendo Switch. I must be a poet because I’m loving the looks of Rime… Sorry for the terrible play of words.
So, the Brazilian Ratings Board, has rated Rime for PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. Just to further emphasize, this ratings board is a very accurate source for gaming leaks, but there has NOT been an official announcement from the developers yet. I have reached out to the developers for further confirmation and I will update this post as soon as I hear back. Big thanks to Gematsu for spotting this rating on the Brazilian Ratings Board.
What do we know about Rime? Well, it is being developed by Tequila Works with help from GreyBox and Six Foot. This title is supposedly set to release sometime in 2017. Here is a quick overview of the game:
Rime is a single-player puzzle adventure game about a young boy shipwrecked on a mysterious island after a torrential storm. Players must use their wits to decipher the challenges and secrets of an expansive world strewn with rugged terrain, wild creatures and the crumbling ruins of a long-forgotten civilization. With subtle narrative, colorful cel-shaded artwork and a sweeping score, Rime offers players a meaningful journey filled with discovery.
What are your thoughts of Rime coming to the Nintendo Switch? I personally am pretty excited, as this game looks to be quite interesting. I would definitely like to see some more gameplay of the the title though. You can check out a full list of games coming to the Nintendo Switch HERE.
A brand new rumor just surfaced that GameCube Virtual console will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Not only will we be able to play GameCube titles on the Switch, but there are already several titles smoothly running and ready for release.
This report was originally released by EuroGamer and this rumor was revealed to them via 3 separate sources. Supposedly, three Nintendo titles are running efficiently. This includes: Luigi’s Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, and Smash Bros. These are 3 of the biggest titles ever released on the GameCube which makes this rumor very exciting to say the least. To top it off, supposedly the next title in the works in Animal Crossing GameCube.
One thing to note about Animal Crossing on the GameCube is the fact that it was originally released with support for several NES titles. Currently these NES titles are rumored to running and working on the Switch virtual console. This means we could possibly emulate a NES game on a GameCube emulator on a Nintendo Switch.. wow that was a mouthful.
Another interesting piece of this rumor is that Nintendo Switch Virtual Console is being programmed by Nerd, the infamous developers of the NES Mini. So maybe we will see a full on NES virtual console at some point. Especially with how well the NES Mini has sold. If only I could have got one… yeah, I’m looking at you scalpers!
Keep in mind, this is a RUMOR. Even though it has been “confirmed” by 3 separate sources there is always a chance this may not be real. This rumor does appear to be true from everything we’ve seen leaked so far.
One theory I personally have is that we may end up getting Wave Race via Virtual console considering the recent trademark request. While this would be great, I am still hoping we get a brand new Wave Race title on the Nintendo Switch.
In regards to the GameCube virtual console, if the rumors are true, what game would you like to have released? I think of GameCube games as Pokemon.. I gotta have them all.
Stardew Valley Nintendo Switch is happening. This was just announced by ConcernedApe via Stardew Valley’s blog. This definitely just made my day!
Stardew Valley was originally slated to release on the WiiU. Since the Nintendo Switch release is right around the corner, ConcernedApe has decided to bring their prized farming simulator to the Nintendo Switch. Here’s what ConcernedApe had to say about it:
Stardew Valley will not be coming to the Wii U, however. Looking at Wii U and the current gaming landscape, we made the difficult choice to shift our development efforts to creating a version for Nintendo Switch. I am really looking forward to the Switch, and I believe that the Switch’s unique capabilities could create some exciting opportunities for Stardew Valley. I do want to emphasize that I am absolutely committed to seeing Stardew Valley on Nintendo platforms, and I really do appreciate your support and understanding in this.
While it’s sad to see the WiiU miss out on this great title, I would much rather have Stardew Valley Nintendo Switch edition than a WiiU edition. While we have no information specific to the Nintendo Switch version of this title, there was a reveal trailer for the Xbox One version released a couple days ago. We should be able to expect a very similar experience on the Nintendo Switch.
I personally am very excited about this announcement. Yesterday, I had just tweeted at ConcernedApe letting them know we wanted a Nintendo Switch release and then this was confirmed. Maybe I should start tweeting at animal crossing… What do you guys think about Stardew Valley? Anyone as hyped as we are? Let us know on Twitter @NinSwitchNet or here in the comments. Maybe this whole rumored Mario Rabbids RPG isn’t so much a rumor after all. Ubisoft recently revealed Mario Rabbids characters in a video celebrating Ubisoft’s 30th anniversary.
This falls under the rumor category for a reason though. This is NOT confirmation of Mario Rabbids RPG. While displaying Mario themed Rabbids characters is a good indicator a rabbids and mario hybrid title is legit, this is only speculation. The video, spotted by a user on NEOGAF, shows a glimpse of Mario, Luigi, Toad, and several other small shaped characters. Towards the end of the video there also a set of South Park Rabbids characters being displayed. Take a look at the video below:
I think it is interesting considering this was an event celebrating 30 years of Ubisoft titles, yet Rabbids filled up most of the video. Personally I do believe this is Ubisoft’s way of teasing the Rabbids RPG title. I still won’t say it’s confirmed, but this just adds some further confirmation towards the possibility of the title being real.
IF Mario Rabbids RPG is real, I definitely see Mario Rabbids Amiibo being released. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mario Rabbids Amiibo launch along side the game. I could definitely see myself buying a handful of Rabbids Amiibo. Toad is definitely my favorite from the ones displayed in the video.
I would like to know your thoughts on this video revealed by Ubisoft. Do you like the way the Mario characters look? Also does Mario Rabbids RPG interest you at all or do you think it would be too gimmicky? Let me know in the comments. To keep up to date with announced games for the Nintendo Switch, you can view our list HERE. Also, Nintendo has announced a hands on event for the Nintendo Switch if you have not heard yet. You can read about the hands on event HERE.
Nintendo just announced a Nintendo Switch hands on event which will take place on January 13, 2017. You read that right, this is directly after the streamed presentation on January 12, 2017 which will reveal the launch lineup and further details.
This event is set to take place somewhere in New York and it will last 5 hours. If you happen to be within driving distance of this event, you may have the opportunity to get your hands on the Nintendo Switch before everyone else. Nintendo is still set on revealing the Nintendo Switch price along with the confirmed release date on January 12, 2017.
In regards to this event Nintendo stated it will, “further emphasize some of the details that Nintendo plans to announce”. Here Nintendo goes again teasing us with information, but I am excited to see a hands on event. This shows some confidence for Nintendo to allow people to get hands on time with the Nintendo Switch. I think it is very smart of Nintendo to let us experience the device prior to release. Here’s to hoping they do similar events in other states. Do you plan on attempting to go to New York in order to get your hands on the Nintendo Switch early? What do you think about the Nintendo Switch hands on event? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned for further updates on the event.
The old Wave Race series, which was popular on the Gamecube and the N64, may be making a comeback! A trademark was just filed for Wave Race in Europe. Can we please get Wave Race Nintendo Switch edition??
So earlier today, a trademark was filed HERE for Wave Race. Here is a screenshot below if you wish not to go to the site.
This could be literally mean nothing at all, BUT is it possible they are looking to bring the series to the Nintendo Switch? Honestly, it would make sense. Wave Race was very successful and we haven’t seen a new release since 2001. Nintendo did file patents for a new Wave Race back in 2009. In 2009 they planned to release Wave Race on the Wii and to take full advantage of the motion controls and balance board. We all know Wii sports Resorts had a bigger appeal though, and it included Jet Skiing.
The Nintendo Switch may be Wave Race’s opportunity to shine though. It just makes sense to make Wave Race Nintendo Switch. What are the chances of another power skiing game coming to the Nintendo Switch? Especially one that gamers would actually enjoy. I don’t think Wave Race would necessarily sell consoles for Nintendo, but I think Wave Race would sell very well. What do you all think about Wave Race possibly coming to the Nintendo Switch? If you are interested to see what other games are rumored/confirmed for the Nintendo Switch, you can check out our full list HERE.
